Naseem Shah signs contract with English county Leicestershire for T20 Blast

The right-arm quick will act as cover for Naveen-ul-Haq, who remains in India following Lucknow Super Giants’ progression to the IPL playoffs.

Naseem Shah has signed a contract with English county Leicestershire for T20 Blast!

As reported, the 20-year-old Pakistani fast pacer has been picked as a replacement for Naveen-ul-Haq from Afghanistan who will feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs for Lucknow Supergiant.

As reported, Shah is due to land in the UK on Tuesday evening and will link up with his new teammates ahead of Thursday’s T20 opener away at Lancashire.

Leicestershire Director of Cricket Claude Henderson said that Naseem Shah has proved that he is a world-class bowler.

“Naveen-ul-Haq’s IPL engagement meant that we had to arrange a replacement immediately and we are very happy that a bowler like Naseem Shah has become available,” he said.

He said that Naseem Shah has proved that he is a world-class player in T20 cricket and we are determined to see him in Leicestershire soon.

Last year, Naseem Shah represented Pakistan in England and played in T20 World Cup matches where the national team reached the final.

Naseem is a Pakistani player representing Leicestershire, where Mohammad Abbas, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, and Umar Akmal have also shown their worth.

According to the website, Naseem Shah will play his first match in the T20 Blast at home against Birmingham Bears.

Naseem Shah previously represented Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast last year and was also linked with the Welsh Fire, but was unable to play for the county due to Pakistan’s series against the Netherlands and the Asia Cup.

The young fast bowler of the national team has experience in T20 leagues and represented Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Representing Pakistan, Naseem Shah has taken 15 wickets by playing 19 T20 matches, while he has the experience of playing 15 Tests and 8 One Day International matches.
