A blow to India as its top batter Shubman Gill is likely to miss a match against Pakistan.
He is reported to have been hospitalized after his health deteriorated further.
As per the Indian media reports, Gill has still not recovered from dengue fever and was shifted to the hospital after reports showed a low platelet count.
Shubman Gill was admitted to a healthcare facility in Chennai on Monday and a medical panel of the Indian Cricket Board is supervising his treatment, Indian media reports.
He already missed India’s opening World Cup match against Australia and is likely to miss the next game against Afghanistan, as well.
The sources indicate that he is not expected to fully recover before the match against Pakistan.
India’s all-important Pakistan match is scheduled on October 14 to be played in Ahmedabad.
“In case Shubman Gill recovers from the disease, he will fly directly to Ahemdamad,” the reports added.
Gill has been the leading run-scorer in one-day internationals this year.
He scored 1230 runs at an average of 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03.
In his last four ODIs, he has hit two centuries and a half-century.
