Meta’s Facebook and Instagram have been restored after a global outage.
Hundreds of thousands of users across the globe were locked out of Meta-owned platforms Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads on Tuesday.
As reported, the disruptions started at around 10:00 a.m. ET (1500 GMT).
After sorting out the issue, Meta said that it had resolved a “technical issue” which caused Facebook, Messenger and Instagram to go down.
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue … for everyone who was impacted,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a statement posted on X.
The biggest outage Meta experienced was in 2021 when Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp and Instagram services went down for almost six hours
On that occasion, founder Mark Zuckerberg apologised for the disruption caused.
