Aashiq Banaya Aapne star Tanushree Dutta accuses Nana Patekar of molesting and misbehaving with her

In the light of the global #MeToo movement a lot of dark, deep and well buried secrets, especially those attached to celebrities have come out. And it seems women in both India and Pakistan are too making full use of the campaign and opening up about their personal experiences of sexual assault and molestation that they have faced at the hands of their fellow colleagues.

The latest celebrity to open up with the Aashiq Banaya Aapne star, Tanushree Dutta, who has come clean about how veteran actor Nana Patekar molested her and misbehaved with her a decade ago.

Talking to News 18 in India, Dutta said, “Everyone knows about Nana Patekar that he has always been disrespectful towards women. People in the industry know about his background, that he has beaten actresses, he has molested them, his behaviour with women has always been crude but no publication has printed anything about it.”

“Everyone has gossiped about this but they’ve never spoken. People with this kind of character speak like this against the kind of character that I have because they say she does glamourous roles so must be glamorous and all,” Dutta confessed.

“Behind the back, they are so dirty. When you are in the industry you hear so many stories about these actors. But these things never take surface because they are PR packaged very well. They will give some money to some poor farmers. How much they do and how much they don’t know, no one knows. But all this is just for show,” she further added.

Reported Tanushree Dutta was signed for a song sequence in 2009 Indian film, Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. However, Tanushree bowed out of the film citing Patekar’s misbehavior as a reason. “I complained to the producer and the director about him pulling me and teaching me dance steps. Instead of paying heed to what I was saying, they wanted to listen to Nana Patekar’s demand of doing an intimate step with me,” she said.

Although the #MeToo movement has taken a rise across the world, Tanushree believes it won’t reach India ever. ” #MeToo movement won’t reach India until everyone acknowledges what happened with me a decade ago,” shared the actress adding that though people had spoken about the controversy, nobody took action and never came clean about Patekar and his actual personality.
