American social media influencer Amani Al-Khatahtbeh is set to become the first Muslim woman to run for Congress from New Jersey and while she maybe a little too young for politics, her agendas address the oldest and strongest of issues in the country.
“Hi. I’m Amani. I’m the first Muslim woman on the ballot for federal office in New Jersey’s history. And I’m running for congress in our 6th district to make democracy happen,” said the 27-year old blogger in a series of photographs on Instagram to announce her candidacy.
Amani has launched a completely digital campaign and referring to the current pandemic situation, emphasized the need of progression and shift of dynamics in American politics.
“This moment is a stark reminder that we can no longer wait for incremental change. Our leadership can and must put the health and well-being of working families and the most vulnerable among us front and centre,” she further wrote.
The fashion and lifestyle blogger, who happens to be an open critique of sitting POTUS Donald Trump, intends to represent Muslims and other minority groups of the country who are underrepresented in the mainstream political affairs of America. Her manifesto include Green New Deal, Medicare for All, student debt forgiveness, and criminal justice reform, reported a leading daily.
