Angelina Jolie expressed her support for Palestinian civilians following the Jabalia refugee camp bombing by Israel!
Days after calling for action to prevent civilian casualties and save lives, highlighting her support for the work of Doctors Without Borders, Angelina Jolie speaks up about Israel’s genocide campaign in Gaza via her Instagram.
The statement from the Hollywood star-turned-activist arrives following Israel’s attack on the Jabalia refugee camp.
The actress, 48, also criticized the world leaders standing by to watch the bloodshed.
Former UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie said, “This is the deliberate bombing of a trapped population who have nowhere to flee. Gaza has been an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave. 40% of those killed are innocent children. Whole families are being murdered. While the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians – children, women, and families – are being collectively punished and dehumanized, all while being deprived of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid against international law. By refusing to demand a humanitarian ceasefire and blocking the UN Security Council from imposing one on both parties, world leaders are complicit in these crimes.”
The total death toll in Gaza has risen to 9,061 people, while 32,000 others are injured, the official spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza has said.
The dead Palestinians include 3,760 children and 2,326 women, the spokesperson was quoted as saying by Reuters.
The Jabalia refugee camp is the largest of the Gaza Strip’s eight refugee camps.
Jabalia Camp was created by the United Nations following Israel’s war of independence in 1948.
