Actress Armeena Khan has responded to the former London mayor and foreign secretary Boris Jonson’s remarks, who in an interview made some derogatory remarks about Muslim women that the Muslim women wearing the burqa look like letter boxes and he also compared them with bank robbers.
Armeena Khan took to social media emphasizing on women rights, tweeting, “Yet another privileged middle-aged bloke telling women what they can and can’t wear. If a woman wants to wear a burqa, it’s her right Mr. Boris Johnson. It is her RIGHT to choose which goes hand in hand with British values”.
She didn’t rest her case with the single tweet, there came another tweet in continuation of her stance, “If a woman wants to wear a short dress, it is her right and freedom to do so. If a woman wants to wear a burqa it is her right to do so. I will defend the basic principle which is the #therighttochoose #BorisJohnson”.
Armeena kept advocating her case for women rights and freedom of choice in social media throughout the day, in her tweet she quoted the British PM video as well.
