The Commissioner Karachi has issued new orders that the balconies of the metropolitan should not have the hanging laundry, instead to have flowers only.
Taking it to social media, in a set of tweets, commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani wrote: “No laundry! Only flowers on the balconies”.
“All balconies must-have flower pots. No laundry from now on!”, he further added.
However, the pots in the photos shared were bearing artificial flowers, and a hanging shalwar below the balcony has left netizens in fits.
Many of the Karachiites have raised the question, where would these people will dry their laundry from now on. As many who live in small apartments have one or two small balconies the only open aid for getting fresh air and space to dry laundry cannot afford automatic washing machines having dryers. Most of them even don’t have washing machines at all.
But, if this order is adopted on a serious note it could add to the aesthetics of the metropolitan, much needed in the present times.
This recent order comes in the wake of the ongoing campaign of the beatification of Karachi. It will follow a drive that would see authorities placing flowers in areas close to Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
However, the recently ended clean Karachi drive could not have brought satisfactory results.
