Actor and singer Ayesha Omar has come forward with startling revelations about her troublesome early days of her career as she opened up about facing sexual harassment for a few years.
“A huge powerful man, twice my age. I had just entered the industry, I was this young 23-year-old, fresh out of college, and bam, this started happening. And it went on for years,” the actress said in a candid Instagram interview with BBC which also featured Rose McGowan – who began the Harvey Weinstein #MeToo campaign.
“It wasn’t a one-off incident, and I just didn’t want to process it. I put in a box, and I said okay, this is happening in my life, I have to deal with it. I didn’t wanna share it with anybody,” continued Ayesha.
“I let it stay there for 15 years, and I finally spoke about it to someone two years ago,” said the Karachi Se Lahore star.
Ayesha also touched upon the subject of victim-blaming and the prevailing issue of sexual harassment in Pakistan and worldwide. The starlet however captioned that she hopes to see the change, once all sane voices unite together for women.
