Ayesha Omar undergoes collarbone surgery for an injury sustained over eight years ago

Ayesha Omar was injured in a car accident in 2015 on the Super Highway traveling from Karachi to Hyderabad

Ayesha Omar underwent collarbone surgery for an injury she sustained over eight years ago!

Ayesha Omar took to Instagram on Thursday to share a significant update on her health with her fans and followers.

The Bulbullay star revealed that her doctor outlined the seriousness of her condition, indicating that the planned surgery would entail a major reconstruction effort.

“So this happened. Alhamdulillah. At 7 pm, on the first day of Ramazan, March 12, 2024. I’ve had enough of dancing and spending my life with a broken/smashed collarbone,” Ayesha wrote.

“After many years of navigating through spasms, discomfort, complications, and pain, I finally gathered the strength to go through with this surgery. I also realized that emotional and spiritual healing cannot happen without physical healing,” she said.

Penning details about the whole procedure that took three hours, she shared what it was like to go under the knife, she said that her “broken bones were trapped in a lot of tissue and muscle,” because of which, she underwent bone grafting from her left hip bone, and screws for stabilization were involved.

“For those who don’t know, I broke my collarbone and shoulder blade in a terrible car accident on the Hyderabad highway eight years ago. Driver’s fault. The bone never joined even after a year of treatments and therapy, and the gap kept becoming bigger. After many years of navigating through spasms, discomfort, complications, and pain, I finally gathered the strength to go through with this surgery. I also realized that emotional and spiritual healing cannot happen without physical healing. How can I heal the broken parts of me without mending this break completely? It was a very complicated three-hour surgery because my broken bones were trapped in a lot of tissue and muscle,” she added.

“The pelvic bone (that’s where the bone graft was taken from to put in my collarbone) is excruciatingly painful,” she noted, adding, “Dr. Shah had to drill deep into both ends of my broken collarbone to find blood and marrow and then insert the bone graft in the middle of it and set it in place with a titanium plate.”

Omar is grateful that the whole thing has been dealt with and she can finally focus on healing — her recovery period may span up to four months, during which she will refrain from traveling and taking up any projects.

“Will work on music, ideas, scripts, and my brands,” she added.

It happened back in December 2015, when Ayesha Omar and actor Azfar Rehman were injured in a car accident on the Super Highway while they were traveling from Karachi to Hyderabad for the launch of a clothing store.

As reported, a vehicle collided with their car, causing it to swerve off the road and fall into a ditch.

In the said accident Ayesha Omar suffered two fractures on her right collarbone and shoulder, and Rehman sustained a head injury.

They were taken to a Jamshoro hospital, received first aid and later they were transported to Karachi’s South City Hospital via ambulance.
