Chess lesson for Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai

Renowned singer and social worker Shehzad Roy was seen playing chess with the youngest Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. And she was concentrating real hard to master her chess skills. To whom Shehzad Roy quoted, “Must say she is a quick learner”

“Chess is a mind sport and it should be a part of our school curriculum. @ZindagiTrust adopted a govt school, SMB Fatima jinnah which has produced a national champion in chess. Here I am trying to teach @Malala how to play chess. Must say that she is a quick learner”, wrote Shehzad Roy while sharing a photo on his twitter.


Most interestingly, the singer received an open challenge invitation for playing chess on his tweet, which he accepted!


The game of Chess has been around form hundreds of years. For long, it has been considered as a game played only by intellectuals and individuals with critical thinking abilities.

It is also called the royal game because practically being associated with rulers. Every king, queen, emperor, maharaja and tsar have been reported by historians playing Chess.

However, the fact is that chess can be played by people of all age groups and mind sets. Chess is extremely helpful in brain development, particularly when it is played regularly from a very early age.

And that’s the point what celebrity singer and social worker Shehzad Roy trying to explain in a form of chess lesson from one humanitarian to another! The famous singer stresses on the need for extra-curricular activities in schools. As, SMB Fatima Jinnah Govt. School, which was adopted by the  Zindagi Trust has produced a national champion in chess.

The tweet sought to promote the charity work being conducted by Shahzad Roy’s Zindagi Trust. Which intends to work to improve quality of the education for the marginalized and deprived classes in Pakistan.

While, the youngest Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, is one of the world’s most famous activists for female education.
