Deepika reveals reason behind “no phones policy” at her wedding

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot on November 14th and 15th last year. The duo’s destination wedding at Lake Como, Italy, was a private, family affair with a “no phones policy.” We wondered whether it was to prevent the wedding pictures from being leaked and honor the couple’s privacy. However, Deepika has finally revealed the reason behind the measure and we’re rather impressed by the thoughtfulness of Bollywood’s IT couple.

According to Indian media, Deepika Padukone is reported to have been saying, “Privacy was secondary. The reason we asked our guests not to have cell phones was because we wanted them to be present in the moment.”

Adding further, the Padmaavat star said, “Usually, everyone is on their cell phones, capturing the moment. These moments should be in your mind and heart as they’re never going to come back. Every single guest, I kid you not, is so thankful.”

“People who’ve never danced in their lives were on the dance floor. People who’ve never tasted alcohol were tasting wine. That’s how free people were. They were emotionally present there and they didn’t have any choice but to talk to each other,” said Deepika.

We’re definitely more eager to capture moments in our cameras than enjoy being present at an occasion and be part of the festivities. We totally approve of Deepika and Ranveer’s no phones policy at their wedding and wish the couple, all the very best for their future endeavors and years together.
