The first song of the most anticipated film of the year, Veere Di Wedding titled Tareefan was released yesterday becoming an instant favorite! Featuring Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, the fun dance number is all about women ruling the world and some major gender swap!
The song has been sung by Badshah and has the women lip-syncing to his voice. And guess what? We’ve always seen women being objectified, but this time it’s the other way round! Women are the real heroes while the boys are used as decorative pieces in this one!
Sonam and Kareena are the real USP of this song, and with them in the video, it seems hard to hard focus on anything but the two divas. The song is a promotional video and might appear in the end credits of the film.
Farah Khan who has been very picky about work, in a statement told IANS, “The concept of a gender swap really appealed to me. We made the boys the decorative pieces in the song with the girls being the heroes here. It was so much fun working with some truly empowered and enlightened women like Rhea, Ekta, Kareena, Sonam, Shikha and Swara.” The producers Ekta Kapoor and Nikkhil Dwiwedi were all praise for Farah’s dynamic choreography!
“We are hoping this film does well. It is important for this film to do well so that we as women will get our space. We can break the glass in some way or the other,” said Sonam at the trailer launch which has so far received great appreciation.
Veere Di Wedding will release on June 1.
