The recent ongoing wave of #MeToo in Bollywood has opened a new Pandora’s box. Every day new cases of sexual harassment are emerging in news. Celebrities finally have found some courage to reveal their ordeals. How true are these allegations of sexual harassment that is another question.
But this ongoing movement has brought together 11 female filmmakers of Bollywood to sign a note urging other filmmakers to not to work will sexual harassers. The note was shared on social media by the actress Konkona Sen Sharma.
The note says, “As women and filmmakers, we come together to support the #MeToolndia movement. We are in complete solidarity with the women who have come forward with honest accounts of harassment and assault. Our respect and admiration to them as their courage has started a revolution of welcome change. We are here to spread awareness to help create a safe and equal atmosphere for all in the workplace. We have also taken a stand to not work with proven offenders. We urge all our peers in the industry to do the same”.
Below were the names of the other female filmmakers who agree with the said statement. That include Alankrita Shrivastava, Gauri Shinde, Kiran Rao, Konkona Sen Sharma, Meghna Gulzar, Nandita Das, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti, Ruchi Narain, Shonali Bose and Zoya Akhtar.
