Motaz Azaiza included in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024

At just 25 years of age, Motaz Azaiza is the youngest person on this year’s TIME list.

Motaz Azaiza has been included in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People.

Time Magazine on Thursday, included Palestinian photographer Motaz Azaiza in the ‘Icons’ category in ‘The 100 Most Influential People Of 2024’.

TIME has described Motaz Azaiza as the “World’s eyes and ears in his native Gaza” for 108 days.

At just 25 years of age, Palestinian photographer is the youngest person on this year’s TIME list.

“Armed with a camera and a flak jacket marked ‘PRESS,’ the 25-year-old Palestinian photographer spent nearly four months documenting life under Israeli bombardment: families displaced from homes, women mourning loved ones, a man trapped beneath the rubble,” it said.

“His pictures showed what life is like in Gaza, which most international reporters can’t see because they’re not allowed in there. But doing this was dangerous. Since October 7, at least 95 journalists have been killed in Gaza. This is the deadliest time for journalists since 1992. Many more have been hurt or arrested. Motaz left Gaza in January. Now, he works to tell people about the crisis and asks for help from other countries,” Time Magazine endorsed.

2024 TIME100 honorees include singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, football quarterback Patrick Mahomes, actor Taraji P. Henson, and Russian opposition movement leader Yulia Navalnaya.

The TIME100 list also includes Fantasia Barrino, Kylie Minogue, Greg Abbott, Elliot Page, Kelly Ripa, Jenni Hermoso, Colman Domingo, Dev Patel and more.

Satya Nadella and Patrick Mahomes are on the list for the third time, more than any other person this year.

Meanwhile acknowledging the Time’s announcement, Motaz Azaiza, who has 18.2 million followers on Instagram and about 1.1 million on Twitter, said he was blessed to share his country’s name with him wherever he went or whatever he achieved.

“For those who don’t recognize Palestine as a state, or for those who claim that it is their land. Palestine gonna be free one day from Zionists and occupation. Everyone does his part, and my part is not done yet,” he wrote on his social media account.
