Pakistani Men are Painting Their Nails for an Important Cause

As Pakistan tops the chart for child abuse this year, male celebrities have joined the global #PolishedMan campaign to raise awareness on the issue. Albeit that the campaign, to bring attention towards the softer side of males, is there for a long time it is only the first time Pakistani men are coloring their nails for the cause.

Notable celebrities who have participated in the campaign include sportsmen Wasim Akram, Jahangir Khan, Shoaib Malik, Amir Khan, and Aisam ul Haq. Among the artists who shared pictures of their polished nails, Shehzad Roy, Humayun Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Moammar Rana, and Bilal Ashraf are some of the big names.

Shaniera Akram also took to Twitter as she raised awareness on this campaign and shared pictures of the men who have boldly chosen to come out as #PolishedMan.

“Some of the toughest men Pakistan has ever produced are showing their softer side & coloring one nail to represent the millions of children who suffer every day at the hand of an adult. Our Pakistani heroes say ‘We WILL NOT tolerate child abuse in our country’,” wrote Shaniera in a series of tweets.

“Talking about Child Abuse is better than not talking about Child Abuse! We need to infiltrate people’s homes in Pakistan with the necessary conversations around this topic. And if a man coloring his nail can spark a wave of awareness, then so be it! Man up, color your nail today,” she said.
