Pankaj Udhas, the renowned classical singer passed away after a prolonged illness on Monday.
He was 72.
Pankaj Udhas died on the morning of February 26 at Breach Candy Hospital, in Mumbai where he had been admitted for the past few days.
Nayaab Udhas, daughter of the well-known Indian ghazal and playback singer Pankaj Udhas, confirmed the news in a statement.
Nayaab Udhas in an official statement, said, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, 2024, after a prolonged illness.”
Udhas started his with the release of the maiden ghazal album “Aahat” in 1980 and went on to record many hits, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene with albums like “Nasha” and “Shagufta”.
Pankaj Udhas throughout his illustrious career released numerous albums and singles, many of which have become timeless classics.
He was well known for songs like ‘Chitti Aayi Hai’, ‘Jeeye Toh Jeeye Kaise’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, and many others.
