Priyanka Chopra returns to Bollywood to star opposite Salman Khan in upcoming period drama ‘Bharat’

Bollywood director Ali Abbas Zafar has finally revealed that his next directorial will mark Priyanka Chopra’s return to the Indian film industry after a hiatus of two years. Priyanka was last seen in Bollywood production in Jai Gangaajal in 2016, in which she portrayed the role of an IPS officer. Lately she has been busy with her Hollywood projects, new season of Quantico is about to start in 2 weeks.

And the endorsement has come from Salu Bhai himself, welcoming Priyanka back to Bollywood and also reminding the international star that it’s going to be a Hindi film. Tweets Salman Khan from his official twitter handle, ”#Bharat .. welcomes u back home @priyankachopra . See u soon .. By the way humari film Hindi hai ;)”.

After a lot of speculations about the leading lady in the movie previously it was cited that there will be a fresh face that will be cast opposite the superstar Salman Khan, but PeeCee has finally given a nod to ‘Bharat’. As being reported by Indian media Director Ali Abbas Zafar and producer Atul Agnihotri travelled to New York to give Priyanka the narration of the film. She loved the script and was convinced immediately to do the film.

Ali Abbas Zafar spoke about Quantico’s girl return to Indian cinema saying, ” Bharat is Priyanka’s homecoming to Bollywood after having proved herself as a performer in a global TV show, Quantico, and in Hollywood. Bharat is rooted in India and its culture, spans over seven decades and travels across the world. Priyanka is the biggest Indian artist globally today and a perfect fit for the film as she brings to the table her incredible talent and international appeal”.

Revealing more about the Quantico action star’s role in upcoming film Bharat, he added, ”Bharat is a mature, subtle love story and her character is the soul of the film. She stands shoulder to shoulder with Salman in his journey and is the catalyst who triggers what will be a turning point in the plot”.

The period drama ”Bharat” scheduled for Eid 2019 release is an official adaptation of 2014 Korean film Ode to My Father, which depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man. Salman will be seen sporting five different looks in the movie as it chronicles his journey from the age of 8 to 65, reports Indian daily. The movie is also said to highlight the period during the India Pakistan partition. It is reportedly about a man who lives through several significant moments from India’s past to present.

Salman Khan gets bail and will be wrapping up the Race 3 shoot

Priyanka and Salman Khan have previously seen together sharing the screen in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Salaam-E-Ishq (2007) and God Tussi Great Ho (2008). Let’s wait to see what the duo bring forward on screen in ”Bharat”.
