Former U.S first lady Barbara Bush passed away at the age of 92 last night. She was the second woman ever to see both her husband and son sworn to be the presidents of United States of America. It was revealed in early morning hours by Bush family that Barbara Bush died after suffering from long illness. Her health was failing and that she would seek no further medical treatment for congestive heart failure.
She served as the First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993. She has also served as the Second Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Her death news has triggered an outpouring of praises for the matriarch of a Republican family which has been once at the apex of American politics. Plainspoken manner and utter lack of pretense made her more popular at times than her husband George H. W. Bush.
It was 1989 when U.S President Bush and First Lady Barbara welcomed Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari to the White house on a state visit.
