Social media, as helpful and entertaining as it seems, can be extremely dangerous as well. Not to say, hazardous, a war zone to be precise. Once available on social media, the content, be it video, text, picture or just about anything at all, is available for all to judge. And these judgments are usually far from being polite in most cases.
After having shunned rumors of depression and an attempt to suicide, actress Saboor Aly has once again found herself subjected to social media viral news. Aly, recently posted a video on her social media, where she was seen making fun of a person cleaning windows on set alongside fellow actress, Shaheefa Jabbar Khattak, while Affan Waheed, resorted to stating that he was only working hard.
The internet was quick to judge Saboor for making fun of a person working hard for a living. However, upon recent developments and Saboor’s public statement, it seems the person was assistant director for her new project and the video was an inside joke, that went terribly wrong on a public platform.
However, this has again started a whole new debate regarding Saboor’s view point. What people are concerned and commenting about is Saboor insensitively making fun of and degrade window cleaning or any form of labour work in the first place.
People called Saboor and Saheefa insensitive for making a bad attempt at humor with a distasteful joke at a labor’s expense. However, the two have now gone out and publicly apologized with the same assistant director in tow to people who found the video offensive.
What do you guys think about it? Is it a heartfelt apology with a reason to suffice or has it been done because of the social media pressure and the image the celebs need to maintain at all times?
