Frieha Altaf talks about the second Pakistan Film Festival to be held from 7th to 9th July in New York

Maleeha Lodhi, serving at present as Pakistan’s Ambassador in the UN in New York gave us a wonderful news through her official twitter account that the 2nd Pakistan Film Festival New York is being organized from 7th to 9th of July by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations.

Just like last year this event is being organized by Maleeha Lodhi and Pakistan’s top event manager Frieha Altaf, CEO of Catalyst and Catwalk Event Managemnet and Productions. While talking to OY, Frieha shared her excitement about the upcoming event, “We all know how prestigious it is to have a film festival that too in New York, where people from all around will be watching Pakistani films.”

Sharing the event’s details with OY, Frieha told, “The event is getting bigger by every year. This year we have 8 Pakistani films to be showcasing at film festival. This year more Pakistani stars will be attending these festivals. Just like last year the red carpet will be held at the UN.”

“Showcasing our best work at such an event where there will be UN dignitaries and ambassadors present is a big deal. International media will be monitoring our efforts it’s the best put forward Pakistan’s better image in front of the world”, added Freiha Altaf.

Talking about the Pakistani celebrities attending this year’s festival Frieha told, “there are going to be many people attending this year’s film festival including Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Sheheyar Munawer, Ayesha Omar, Hareem Farooq, Aamina Sheikh, director Nadeem Baig, film Cake’s director Asim Abbasi, Mikaal, Ali Kazmi, Angeline Malik, and the Cast of film ‘Na Band Na Baraati’ will also be joining in from Canada and few others as well. There is going to be a concert as well.”

“Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will also be joining the Pakistan Film Festival in New York next month for a one hour talk session,” told Frieha Altaf. Last year Chinoy’s animated movie was screened in the event. Every film screening will follow a question and answer session at the festival revealed the super event manager. Maleeha Lodhi has also tweeted about this.

With joint efforts of Pakistan’s ambassador to the U.N Dr. Maleeha Lodhi and celebrity icon Frieha Altaf, the first Pakistan Film Festival New York was held in December 2016. This year the event is grown big as 8 films will be screened at the event, including Cake, 7 Din Mohabat In, Chuppan Chupai, Parchi, Na Band Na Baraat and Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Freiha also shared her views that, “Pakistan is culturally very strong now. We are producing best fashion, television plays, music, and art at the moment. Our film industry is also going through revival phase and we have started to produce great films again. Recently, we all have seen that films like Cake and Punjab Nahi Jaungi have done exceptionally well. Masha Allah we are doing great in every field of Arts and entertainment. And this festival is a great opportunity to show Pakistani work to the world”.
