Health Minister of Punjab Dr. Yasmin Rashid has stated that the province is working to increase its Coronavirus testing capacity to 2,500 persons per day so that the system can work further rigorously.
“Our aim, however, is to bring the figure to 5,000 tests each day so that more and more people can be identified,” said Dr Yasmin while talking to Samaa.
The health minister also asserted that Punjab government is working efficiently to increase quarantine facilities in hospitals and ensuring safety and well being of doctors, nurses and other paramedics staff.
“The Mayo Hospital, Expo Centre and the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute have been completely allotted to the coronavirus patients,” the minister told as she shared three medical colleges are also being converted into quarantine facilities.
Furthermore, Dr. Yasmin informed that medical staff is only getting one week shift and is being monitored for their own health.
“They will be tested as well so that they don’t transfer the virus to anyone else. Personal protective equipment, double salaries and training programmes will also be provided to them,” she said of the medical staff at government hospitals.
