Punjab government imposes micro lockdown in different areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala after new COVID-19 cases have surfaced, media reported on Sunday.
As being reported, the lockdown has been put in place in three cities for a period of 14 days to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus that has affected over 96,000 people and killed 2,188 across the province.
In Lahore, at least 12 areas have been sealed after 28 fresh cases were reported. As many as 19,538 residents will be under lockdown.
In Rawalpindi, the three selected areas are Chur Chowk on Misrial Road, Sara-i-Kala in Taxila, and three streets in Bahria Town Phase VIII.
In the Rawalpindi district, at least 25 more people tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, while one patient passed away.

Meanwhile, two localities have been out under micro locked down in Gujranwala.
Punjab has reported zero additional fatalities from the coronavirus for the second day in a row, according to the government’s COVID-19 portal.
The provincial death toll stands at 2,188 — the second-highest in the country.
Punjab has recorded 121 new infections in the past 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 96,178. According to the portal, 91,150 people have recovered from the virus so far.
