“Awards ought to be treated like awards,” Sajal Aly

Even though Pakistan’s entertainment industry is flourishing at a rapid pace, it seems we’re still lacking one thing or another. We do have awards that tend to celebrate the humongous amount of talent flourishing in the industry but every now and then we come across celebrities, who rather miffed, but actually make a point.

Winners of Lux Style Awards 2018

Earlier we found Noman Ijaz disagreeing at the categorization of awards at LSA’s and now we have the gorgeous Sajal Aly making a valid point. Talking to a leading daily, the actress expressed her feelings towards the recently introduced “Best dressed” segment of the awards at the Lux Style Awards. According to the beautiful actress, she finds the segment very humiliating and disrespectful towards the actors.

“I feel like we have gradually gone from treating awards as an evening of celebration of good work and art to ridiculing actors and our industry. I was quite disappointed [by LSA 2018],” Sajal said. She has been contesting this very segment with Nabila, Urwa & Mawra Hocane, and Ainy Jaffri-Rehman for the best dressed celebrity.

Sajal further said, “It might sound harsh, but unfortunately that’s the reality. Actors were treated as subjects of humiliation and were used for cheap laughs. I may also sound like I’m ranting, but does no one go over the script and point out whether something is a bit much?” Sajal further added,  “Not a lot of actors attend the awards in the first place and slowly that number will grow. I know I don’t want to be disrespected for the sake of a show’s rating.”

This very segment was not on aired on TV  and the host for the night, Ahmed Ali Butt, tried to clarify  himself in the words, “It was all in good fun and it won’t be aired on TV because it was basically done in order to kill time while the stage was being set up for Sahir Ali Bagga and Ali Azmat’s live performance,” said Ahmed Ali Butt.

Sajal Aly seemed certainly miffed while she stated, “I’m not sure what to expect anymore, or rather, I know exactly what to expect, start treating awards like awards. Give respect where it is due and make people feel good that they attend the event. We direly need structure and discipline.” said the gorgeous actress.
