Netflix will make a documentary series chronicling the 2018 Formula One season and which will be screened next year, the sport’s rights holders announced on Saturday ahead of the opening race in Australia, reports news agency Reuters.
F1’s managing director of commercial operations Sean Bratches, in a statement said,” Formula One is a global sport that we are actively re-positioning from a motorsport company to a media and entertainment brand”.
”This is a perspective of the sport that has yet to be unveiled to fans around the world. This series will unleash a compelling vantage point to the sport that will delight fans and serve as a catalyst to entice new fans”, he adds further.
The announcement has been made officially by Formula 1 and Netflix for a season long collaboration culminating in an original documentary series of the 2018 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, to be screened in early 2019
Formula 1 also stated that the makers of the 10 part series would have unparalleled and exclusive access over the course of the year to the drivers, team bosses and owners as well as the sport’s management team.
It is being appreciated by many around the world terming as another great initiative from F1 to heighten fan engagement.
