Game of Thrones Makers Also Surprised at Breaking Emmy’s Nominations Record

Presumably, the most hyped television show’s most hyped finale season Game of Thrones season 8, brought in some major disappointments for the fan who expected “something more”, “something else”.

However, after record-breaking views, holding the record for the most-watched show on premier and ending on a not so satisfactory note, Game of Thrones went on to shatter some more records.

Earlier, the news came that GoT has made it to Emmys and that too with a bang. With 32 nominations in total, highest ever for a show in a single year, the show stood above the league of its own past glory. The disappointed fans were somewhat surprised by the news but as it turns out, makers D.B Weiss and David Benioff are too feeling the same.

“It was kind of surprising,” Weiss told Japan’s publication in a first interview after the show’s conclusion.

However, they have very different reasons to be surprised and no, they do not think they didn’t deserve the appreciation.

“I did not know that we expected… in my mind, I thought the last season would have been the peak, and that we would have ended up with a couple less [nominations] at best,” added the showrunner.

So basically, Weiss just thought that the show got a ‘couple more’ nominations than he could expect and that nowhere means he thought GoT season 8 was an understatement to the show’s decade long epicness. (Actually, we kind of agree with Weiss here, despite the cringe-worthy ending).

Oh and just by the way, GoT will be going to Emmys with 10 of its cast members up for individual awards and all our favorites Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner, and Peter Dinklage are out and about to grab their Emmy 2020.
