Sunday night saw the 78th Golden Globe Awards being hosted as the first-ever bicoastal and virtual show.
The event was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Fey conducted the show live from the Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room in New York City, while Poehler hosted the awards night from the Globes’ usual location inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
History was created this year as director Chloé Zhao became only the second woman to win the best director prize, joining Barbra Streisand, who was recognized for directing “Yentl” in 1983.
While Netflix commanded the 2021 competition with 42 nominations and 10 wins.
American actor and activist Jane Fonda received a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday, marking a career in film and television and at the forefront of social issues over some 60 years.
Television pioneer Norman Lear, 98, creator of groundbreaking comedy shows such as All in the Family and One Day at a Time, was honored with the Carol Burnett Award.
While the most incredible strength of the award ceremony was Taylor Simone Ledward, who accepted an award of Best Actor in a Motion Picture, on behalf of her late husband, Chadwick Boseman.
