Shane Warne biopic TV miniseries commence filming in Melbourne, the home town of the late crickter.
The production on the biopic is reported to have began just three weeks after Shane Warne died from natural causes in March at the age of 52.
Australian actor, Alex Williams, who received critical acclaim for playing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in 2012, will be seen playing the character of the legendary Australian cricketer.
Media reports reveal that the two-part special tells a dramatized version of the Spin King’s remarkable sporting career and rise to fame, including his marriage to ex-wife Simone Callahan.
Earlier in the week, the first on-set photos from Channel Nine’s upcoming mini series about the life of Shane Warne were leaked online.
The click features the Aussie actor Alex Williams portraying Shane Warne, wearing a blond wig, a white T-shirt, baggy jean shorts and brown sandals, and carried a grey jumper.
Photo also revealed Marny Kennedy playing Warne’s wife, wearing khaki cargo pants, a white T-shirt and short-sleeved blue work shirt with a fake pregnancy bump.
On the other hand the production of mini series have met with the criticism from Warne’s family.
Late cricketer’s daughters Brooke and Summer Warne called out Nine earlier in September, saying the plan to dramatize their father’s life was “beyond disrespectful”.
“Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family? Who did so much for Channel [Nine] and now you want to dramatise his life and our families (sic) life 6 months after he has passed away?
“You are beyond disrespectful,” wrote Brooke Warne in her Instagram post.
However, Nine issued a statement on Wednesday saying the Warne family has offered its support for what is being described as the biggest drama of 2023.
“During pre-production, the 9Network and Screentime have met with the Warne family who have offered their support for the series.
“The 9Network looks forward to collaborating with the family as filming continues,” the network said in a statement.
