Iranian art masterpieces displayed at Karachi Arts Council

In light of the festivities of Ashra-i-Karamat that is a 10 day birth celebration of three holy persons; Imam Raza, Hazrat Ahmed bin Moosa Kazim and Bibi Fatima Masooma a three day exhibition displaying Iranian artwork was inaugurated in Arts council, Karachi.

The exhibition titled “Sham-u-Shamoos” was inaugurated on Tuesday afternoon by Iranian Consul General Ahmed Mohammadi whi was accompanied by director of Iranian Cultural Center, Bahram Kian and Arts council’s president and art director, Mohammad Ahmed Shah and Shahid Rassam respectively.

The three day exhibition displays a vast collection of calligraphy, miniatures and paintings.

The event organised by Khana-i-Farhang Iran was attended by a good number of art enthusiasts. The exhibition was a reflection of devotion and skills of Iranian artists. A total of 84 exhibits, copies of original art works were displayed.

Most of the exhibits are painting of tombs and calligraphy of Quranic verses and names of Allah and Holy Prophet (PBUH).

A documentary showing the historic importance, architecture, significance of various shrines was also screened with English subtitles.

Moreover, a young artist displayed her awe-spiring work on a table. Adeeba Khan, is a graduate from the mass communication department at University of Karachi and has been painting ever since she was a kid.

Her work also caught the eye of Consul general who took an interest in her work and appreciated her.

Adeeba has been focusing on Calligraphy for quite some time now. She had also participated in group shows. In her work, she has beautifully penned down the names of Allah along with his attributes and Quranic verses in bright shades.
