Mayor Sadiq Khan switched on the London’s first ever celebratory lights, in Piccadilly Circus.

London’s West End lit up for Ramadan for the first time ever!

West End has been decorated with 30,000 lights to mark the holy month of Ramadan.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, switched on the lights on Wednesday evening installed at Coventry Street, which links Leicester Square with Piccadilly, featuring illuminated “Happy Ramadan”.

The special Ramadan display has been organised by Aisha Desai, who began the project three years ago.

As reported, this year in London, an open Iftar – breaking of the fast – will be held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington which has also erected a pop-up mosque and Ramadan pavilion for Muslims and non-Muslims.

Chelsea football club will also hold an open Iftar at the side of the pitch at Stamford Bridge, which is going to be a first for the club and a Premier League stadium.

Wembley Stadium will also hold an Iftar later in the month.
