One killed, 8 injured during a stampede during the distribution of free flour in Charsadda

In a sad turn of events, one person was killed and 8 others were injured during a stampede during the distribution of free flour in Charsadda on Thursday.

On the first day of Ramadan, hundreds of people gathered at the local market for the handouts, one of the hundreds of distribution points set up by the government during the holy month.

“Nine people were trampled and were taken to hospital where one person died,” said Muhammad Arif, police chief for Charsadda.
