Farhad Humayun, Pakistani singer and record producer has sent a legal notice to Coca-Cola for plagiarising his ‘Neray Aah’.
The recent advertisement titled ‘Coke and Music’ features the song Neray Aah sang by Meesha Shafi which according to Farhad Humayun is an infringement of the intellectual property rights of his version of Neray Aah, released in 2011.
According to his legal team, “The blatant infringement of Farhad Humayun’s content by Coca Cola is a great disappointment as the corporation professes to champion the efforts of the local music industry but has acted otherwise. The artist has, therefore, been forced to seek justice through legal channels”.
However, as per Meesha Shafi’s tweet, Coke Studio 2020 will be coming soon which might feature a whole new version of Zalima Ve.
This is not the first time the company has been facing legal music. Back in 2008, Shehzad Roy slapped the company a legal notice for using his song Laga Rahe in a Sprite campaign without his consent.
