9 Muharram processions underway across the country

9 Muharram processions are underway across the country amid tight security on Friday.

Mourning processions on the 9th of Muharram in memory of the martyrs of Karbala Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his martyred companions are being taken out through traditional routes under strict security arrangements across the country.

The mobile phone service has been suspended in certain areas under the comprehensive security plan devised by law enforcement agencies to prevent any untoward incident.

Islamabad

The main procession of the 9th of Muharram in Islamabad was carried out from Imam Bargah and Asana Ashri J-6, which will end at the same place through its traditional routes.

According to the police, 1685 personnel and officers will be deployed for the security of the main procession, in which 5 DPOs, 14 DSPs, and 21 inspectors will also perform their duties while Rangers and FC will also be deployed for the security of the procession.

Karachi

The main procession of the 9th of Muharram in Karachi started from Nishtar Park, passed through its traditional routes, and will conclude at Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah, Kharadar.

Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odhu visited various Imambargahs of the city where he reviewed the security arrangements.

Lahore

The main procession of the 9th of Muharram in Lahore left Pandu Street, Islampura, and will reach Imam Bargah Khema Sadat in the evening through traditional routes.

In connection with Muharram, there are strict security arrangements carried out in the walled city and double riding of motorcycles is also banned.

Peshawar

In Peshawar, the main procession of the 9th of Muharram was taken out from Imam Bargah Hussainiya Hall, from Sadr Road.

While mobile phone service has been suspended in 14 districts of the province including Peshawar city.
