Army Chief Directs Troops to Immediately Reach Earthquake Affected Areas

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has directed army troops to immediately reach the earthquake affected areas in Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir, reported ISPR.

ISPR further informed that Pakistan Army’s aviation and medical teams have also been deployed to the areas that suffered from the calamity on Tuesday afternoon.

Furthermore, the CoA has directed the army troops to fully cooperate with the district and local administration of Mirpur AJK.

On late Tuesday afternoon, Mirpur, AJK, areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northern Punjab suffered from an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 as reported by United States Geological Survey.

The catastrophe resulted in death of 8 people and 100 were reported to be injured. National disaster management, Army and local governments of the affected region are carrying out relief operations.
