At least 12 people were killed and 25 injured in a bus accident near Kallar Kahar on Islamabad-Lahore motorway on Saturday.
As per the preliminary reports, the accident occurred due to breaks failing, said the police.
“Three women and two children were among the dead,” the police said.
According to motorway police, the passenger bus was heading to Lahore from Rawalpindi when it met with an accident near the Kallar Kahar salt range.
CCTV footage of the incident is now doing rounds on social media.
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) said in a statement that NHMP personnel were present at the site of the accident and engaged in rescue activities, monitored by DIG (Motorway) Mohammad Yusuf Malik and the sector commander, Commander Nafri.
A spokesperson of NHMP said that due to the accident, two lanes of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway were closed, while the third lane was open for traffic.
