At least 20 people are reported to be killed including JUI-F’s Tehsil Khar’s Amir Ziaullah Jan in a blast targeting the party workers’ convention in Bajaur on Sunday.
Several people were injured in an explosion at a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) convention in Khar, the capital of Bajaur.
As reported, one of the injured included Geo News cameraman Samiullah, who has been shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Lower Dir as he is said to be in critical condition.
Initially, the Police confirmed that 12 people were killed and more than 50 injured.
The nature of the explosion was not immediately known.
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and investigations are underway.
While a state of emergency has been declared in the hospitals of the district.
The injured are also being shifted to Timrgara and Peshawar.
Imran Maher, the Jalsa organizer, and JUI leader, who personally witnessed the incident, has appealed to the local community to come forward and donate blood.
