Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has passed away at the age of 68 in London on Tuesday after a months-long battle with cancer. The news of her demise was confirmed by her brother-in-law and PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif. He will be flying to London to bring the last remains of her sister in law back to Pakistan. the burial will take place at Jati Umra, Lahore.
The arrangements are reported to be carried out to bring her back for the burial, according to the PKL-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb. Kulsoom Nawaz, who has been Pakistan’s first lady thrice, is survived by her husband and four children including 2 sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz. And two daughters Maryam and Asma.
According to the media reports Kulsoom Nawaz’s health began to deteriorate last night, developing lungs problems. According to the sources at the Harley Street Clinic London, she was placed on life support earlier today but unfortunately could not survive. Kulsoom Nawaz was suffering from lymphoma (throat) cancer and was under treatment for the past several months at the clinic.
