Bushra Bibi challenges ‘Nikah’ during ‘Iddat’ case in IHC

It is learnt that Bushra Bibi's lawyers are trying to schedule the case for hearing today

The former first lady and wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi on Monday challenged the case of their Nikah during Iddat in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In the filed plea, Bushra Bibi has requested the court to dismisser ex-husband, Khawar Maneka’s petition claiming that her marriage with the PTI founder was “fraudulent” and un-Islamic”.

Bushra Bibi, via her lawyer Barrister Salman Akram Raja, moved the IHC with her plea dismissing the admissibility of the case and stating that a trial court has no jurisdiction to hear it.

The applicant maintained that the case is based on malice and that the decision of additional session’s judge East on January 11 be declared null and void.

Khawar Maneka moved a district and sessions court in Islamabad challenging Khan and Bushra Bibi’s marriage.

Maneka sought punitive action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, over allegations of solemnising what he deems an ‘un-Islamic’ marriage.

the petition filed by Maneka read, that he divorced Bushra on November 14, 2017, and had verbally divorced her thrice on April 15, 2017. While the former first lady moved to her mother’s house in August 2017, and stayed there till her marriage with PTI founder on January 1, 2018.

Maneka, days after making explosive claims about his former wife in an exclusive interview on Geo Geo News programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Saturday termed Imran Khan’s nikkah with Bushra Bibi as fraudulent.

He alleges that the marriage was solemnised during the iddat period (the time a woman goes into isolation after her husband dies or divorces her).
