China pulls out of G20 summit being held in Indian-occupied Kashmir

China opposes holding summit in disputed region.

China has pulled out of the G20 summit being held in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

China has opposed holding a summit in the disputed region. Both countries have strained ties since 2020.

“China is firmly opposed to holding any kind of G20 meetings in disputed territory, and will not attend such meetings,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.

The G20 summit is scheduled to take place in IIOJK’s capital Srinagar on May 22-24, hosting the tourism working group for G20 members.

In a setback to India, after China, Turkey is also likely to skip the G20 meeting being held in the disputed Kashmir region.

While Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are also expected to not attend the G20 meeting in the disputed Kashmir region.

Another country may also follow suit by not attending specific events in Kashmir, but the decision is not yet confirmed, news sources claim.

Pakistan has already opposed New Delhi’s decision to hold the meeting in the illegally held Kashmir.
