ECP announces polls in Punjab on May 14 following SC ruling

ECP issues modified schedule for Punjab elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday announced the holding of polls in Punjab on May 14 as directed by the top court.

The decision was taken in an emergency meeting held today for consultations on the SC verdict

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja chaired the emergency session of the electoral body.

 

ECP has started preparations for the electoral process in Punjab.

According to the schedule, the last date for filing appeals against decisions of the returning officer is April 10, while the last date for deciding the appeals by the appellate tribunals is April 17.

The revised list of candidates will be published on April 18. Candidates can withdraw their nominations on April 19. The election symbols will be allotted to candidates on April 20, while the polling will be held on May 14.
