Shawwal Moon Sighting: Eid ul Fitr to be celebrated on Sunday in most countries

Eid ul Fitr to be celebrated on Sunday in most countries of the world.

The Shawwal moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Friday, hence, Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated in Kingdom on Sunday, May 24, according to the official announcement.

UAE also announced the first day of Eid Al Fitr to be Sunday, after the Shawwal crescent was not sighted on Friday.

The moon-sighting committee issued a statement today that after its meeting tonight at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, May 24 was declared as the first day of Shawwal and the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

In Turkey, the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted on Friday and  May 24 will be celebrated as the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

Indonesia and Malaysia have also officially confirmed May 24 as the first day of Eid.

Muslims across the Indian state of Kerala will celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Sunday. According to the religious leaders no sighting of moon was reported on Friday.

Furthermore, The Australian National Imams Council has announced that Saturday (May 23) would be the last day of Ramadan and Sunday (May 24) the first day of Shawwal.
