According to a statement released by the Nawaz Sharif-led party, the MQM-P and PML-N have reached a “principle agreement” to work together in the upcoming government.
The decision was reached after an hour-long meeting in Lahore on Sunday.
The MQM-P delegation led by Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui including Dr Farooq Sattar, Kamran Tessori and Mustafa Kamal visited Nawaz’s residence at Jati Umra in Lahore on the invitation of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif
MQM-P’s leaders reached Lahore to meet the PML-N leadership after securing 17 national assembly seats in the Feb 8 general elections.
PML-N delegation led by party’s supremo Nawaz Sharif included Shehbaz, Maryam Nawaz, Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Rana Mashhood.
Following the meeting, PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said an in-principle agreement was reached between PML-N supremo Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the MQM leadership.
“They vowed to work together for the interest of the country and the nation,” Marriyum said.
