Elon Musk is in China on an unannounced visit as his company Tesla seeks self-driving technology rollout!

As reported the Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, arrived in Beijing on Sunday.

Musk had a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.

According to Chinese state media, during the meeting PM Li told Musk that Tesla’s development in China could be regarded as a successful example of US-China economic and trade cooperation.

“China will continue to work hard to expand market access and provide a better business environment for foreign companies,” Li told Musk.

 

Elon Musk’s visit to China has sparked speculation on Tesla’s autonomous driving technology.

Musk is expected to hold meetings with senior officials to discuss the rollout of Full Self-Driving software and permission to transfer data overseas, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

The Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reporting about Musk’s meeting with Li, did not say whether the two had discussed FSD or data.

Musk also met Ren Hongbin, a government official who heads the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the organiser of the Beijing auto show, according to the state media.

“It is good to see electric vehicles making progress in China. All cars will be electric in the future,” Musk said in a video posted on social media by a user affiliated with state media.

Musk in response to a query on X this month said that Tesla may make FSD available to customers in China “very soon”.
