Fawad Chaudhry has been arrested from outside his Lahore residence early Wednesday morning.
According to Fawad’s brother, PTI Leader was “taken away” in four cars that did not have any number plates at 5:30 am.
Faisal Chaudhry said that the family was unaware of Fawad’s location at the time.
“We are also not being given any details of the FIR registered against him,” he said.
Faisal, who is also a prominent lawyer, has termed his brother’s arrest “illegal” and asserted that he will fight this battle in court.
An FIR against Fawad was registered at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station by an official of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for threatening the electoral body’s members and their families.
As reported, Fawad Chaudhry was arrested in a case registered by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Umar Hameed at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad.
The PTI leader, according to the First Information Report (FIR), has been booked under sections 153A, 506 and 124 A of the Penal Code of Pakistan for allegedly threatening the ECP and its members in a televised interview on Tuesday.
Police produced Fawad Chaudhry in the court of Rana Muddasir in Lahore’s Cantt in handcuffs at 10 am.
The police sought one-day transit remand as they wanted to shift him to Islamabad as the case was registered at the Kohsar police station.
