It all started when PTI MNA Aamir Liaquat posted a photo of senator Sherry Rehman, MMA spokesperson Owais Noorani and former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani with a caption denoting with the lyrics of an old Bollywood song. Though the tweet was deleted by Dr. Aamir Liaquat after following the severe backlash, but the internet never let go of its content.
Later Amir Liaquat tweeted an apology along with the reasons for deleting his tweet, “Twitter didn’t delete my tweet, I deleted it myself cause I later realized it might look bad for you. I have respect for you because of the issues you raised in NA when I was there too. It is a misunderstanding, I was targeting MMA Owais Norani, not you.I apologise @sherryrehman”.
There was also a response from Senator Sherry Rehman from her official twitter account, as she tweeted saying, “For all tastelesstweeters who post salaciously cropped photos or make inappropriate remarks about women in politics, I feel your pain when u are asked to delete. But,none of these dirty tricks deterred SMBenazirBhutto. She taught me to make my words count, not the state of my veil.”
Shireen Mazari also responded on twitter, “It is unacceptable for anyone to do such degrading tweets against women. I have been a victim of insulting language from male politicos – from Altaf Hussain to Kh Asif to Abid Sher Ali. Sick mindsets – women must take a united position against such garbage!”. She was infact the only one from PTI, who responded for Aamir Liaquat’s tweet.
This behavior was not acceptable at all, many came responding on the social media though the tweet was removed and an apology was made.
