The government launched the Tajir Dost Scheme on Saturday, in a bid to comply with the demand of IMF.
Under Tajir Dost Scheme, the registration of retailers will start from April 1, 2024, and then the tax collection will take place from July 1, 2024.
In the first phase, the scheme has been launched in six cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, and Peshawar.
The initiative coincided with an announcement by the finance minister that Pakistan was set to launch a $300m Yuan-denominated Panda bond and external debt to be paid on time as sufficient foreign exchange reserves are available.
Notification of the draft scheme related to the compulsory registration of traders was also issued on Saturday.
