If Jacinda Ardern can meet relatives of victims why not Imran Khan? Demands Hazara Committee

If Jacinda Ardern can meet relatives of victims why not Imran Khan? That is the demand of the Machh massacre victims.

The sit-in protest by the members of the Hazara community entered the third-day demanding justice for the slain coal miners who were gunned down in Machh three days ago.

“We will not end our protest until the arrest of all the assassins,” chief of Balochistan Shia Conference, Agha Daud, told AFP.

“The latest wave of killings will spread to other cities including Quetta if a decisive action is not taken at this stage,” he said.

The demands for protestors include the stepping down of the Balochistan government and for Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit Quetta.

Ever since the protests started, social media is also in uproar in turn of events.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed met the protestors’  group on Monday.

He said he is ready to accept all the demands of the Hazara, except the resignation of the Balochistan government.

Federal Minister also announced compensation amounting to Rs2.5 million for the families of each of the deceased coal miners.

“Each family of the martyrs will be given Rs1 million by the Prime Minister, while Rs1.5 million by the chief minister of Balochistan,”  Sheikh Rasheed told the media.

A representative of the Hazara Committee told the media that when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern can meet relatives of victims, why not Imran Khan?

He said that the Prime Minister should lay his hands on the heads of the family members and the rulers should resign if they could not fulfill their responsibilities.

Protesters have refused to end the sit-in until the arrival of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The participants at the sit-in chanted slogans of ‘Imran Khan, come to Quetta’ throughout the day.

On Tuesday evening, federal minister Ali Zaidi in a tweet announced that he along with Zulfiqar Bukhari Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan was on his way to Quetta to sympathize with the families of those who were martyred.

On the other hand, social media is in an uproar over the turn of events and #ShiaHazaraCallsPMIK is trending on top demanding PM Imran Khan to visit Quetta.

11 coal miners were killed and several others were injured in an armed attack by unidentified men at Balochistan’s Machh coalfield on Sunday.

The event took place in the town of Harnai, located around 170 kilometers (105 miles) east of the provincial capital, Quetta.

As being reported, the attackers first separated the miners before tying their hands and feet and taking them into the hills to kill them.

Officials on Monday clarified ten people had died in the attack, revising a previous death toll of 11, AFP reported.

The militant group Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack, according to SITE Intelligence, which monitors militant activities worldwide.
