Imran Khan transferred to Adiala Jail

IHC directed authorities to shift Imran Khan to Adiala Jail from Attock Prison

Imran Khan, former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman is reported to have been transferred to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday evening.

According to the news source, the PTI chairman dressed in black trousers and a T-shirt was escorted by the police in tight security from the Attock Prison situated approximately 90 kilometers west of the federal capital.

 

Imran Khan had been imprisoned in Attok Jail since August 5 following his conviction in the Toshakhana case, citing “security concerns.”

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed authorities on Monday to shift Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to Adiala jail from Attock prison.

IHC issued the order during a hearing concerning the prison amenities granted to the PTI chief.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq while hearing the PTI petition, remarked that Imran Khan is an under-trial prisoner in the cipher case, which was registered in Islamabad.

The ex-premier had petitioned the IHC seeking transfer from Attock jail to a better class facility in Adiala jail.

As reported, the authorities at Adiala Jail have prepared Imran Khan’s quarter meticulously cleaned and prepared, ensuring that facilities align with court directives.

The cell allotted to the former premier features an adjoining bathroom. A designated inmate has also been assigned to assist him.
