According to the news source, the investigators claimed that a group of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur teachers were involved in the drug peddling and sexual exploitation of female students and other teachers.

The Police have initiated a crackdown against the people involved in possessing videos and images of students as well as obscene content.

As reported, Bahawalpur police lodged a case under Narcotic Act and widened the probe to nab all the suspects.

As reported, three people in this regard have been arrested.

The security advisor, Ijaz Shah, was detained during a search after police found him possessing drugs.

Finance Director Abu Bakar and Transport Incharge Muhammad Altaf are also reported to have been taken into custody after a police raid.

A case was registered at the Baghdad-ul-Jadid Police Station, stating that eight grams of ice [crystal methamphetamine] was found in the right pocket of Muhammad Altaf who confessed to possessing the drug.

The complaint was registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act for possessing, trading, and financing narcotic drugs.

Police claimed that 400 obscene videos and images were found during the investigation process.

While a forensic examination was conducted and officials sent the report to the interim chief minister of Punjab.

On the other hand, Islamia University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Athar Mehboob in a letter written to IG Punjab Police denied such allegations and termed it as an “anti-university” campaign.

“IUB is following zero tolerance policy for the use of contraband drugs as well as sexual harassment or exploitation,” the letter said, adding that the cases against the officials were ‘bogus’,” he stated

The letter added that the cases registered against the university officials were “false” and that a joint investigation team should be formed for a transparent investigation of the matter.

“There is an implicit attempt to defame the university,” Dr. Athar Mehboob wrote.

The internet has been buzzing with development lately and citizens demand strict action to be taken against the culprits.
