Junaid Jamshed was to be part of Mikaal Zulfiqar starrer ‘Sherdil’

Mikaal Zulfiqar, Armeena Rana Khan, Sabika Imam are all gearing up for their flight adventure, with the upcoming film, Sherdil. Directed by Azfar Jafri, of Parchi and Janaan fame, Sherdil will revolve around Pakistan Air Force. The film stars Mikaal Zulfiqar as a pilot and that’s one of the many reasons we’re looking forward to it.

But there was something else about Sherdil as well. Unfortunately it couldn’t materialize, but had it been, Sherdil would have marked Junaid Jamshed’s first cameo role in the film.

Produced and written by Nomaan Khan who ventures into production by Sherdil and launches his banner of NK Pictures, the film would have starred Junaid Jamshed as an officer. Noman Khan has previously worked with the PAF to produce a track called Tum Hi Se Aye Mujahidoo which was sung by the late Junaid Jamshed and featured Sherdil’s leading man, Mikaal Zulfiqar.

In conversation with a leading daily, Noman shared that “Junaid Jamshed kept insisting that if you’ve made this song, you must do more.” Adding further, Noman said that the late musician-turned-religious scholar had influenced him in taking the decision of making a film. “It wasn’t till we lost Junaid that I really decided to pursue it. In fact, I was supposed to be on that very aircraft flying out of Pakistan to look for locations. Junaid suggested we did it very discretely, but he was very much a part of it.”

But unfortunately Junaid’s death in the plane crash put a lot of plans to rest. Had JJ been alive today, he would have been working in full swing with Sherdil’s team and had been a part of the heroic saga.
